Ochre Print Studio are exhibiting some prints of Marshall Barnes drawings, in the Maltings, September 14 – 30. The exhibition is in the lower foyer, downstairs from the main entrance.

Print Blocks, Traditional Printmaking and Recollections of Farnham Places
Some years ago, Ochre Print Studio were gifted a set of print blocks of beautifully illustrated images of Farnham, collected by a former resident of the town. After much deliberation on how best to use these, we editioned six blocks earlier this year in the hope that they would generate interest in traditional printmaking and Farnham’s history.
We used our magnificent 1870s Columbian press to print these, and The Farnham Herald published an article supporting our quest to discover more about the history and stories behind the illustrations.
The Oxfam Bookshop kindly allowed us to create a window display telling our story. Using an array of typesetting ephemera, the Pullinger family archive and a poster illustrated by Marshall Barnes (the original illustrator of many of the blocks).
We exhibited this uniquely researched printed edition at The Maltings’ Print Festival in April this year and invited the public to share stories of the six iconic Farnham locations.
These prints, a video demonstration and some of the original blocks can be viewed again at The Maltings during Heritage Month from 14 to 30 September.
This traditionally printed limited edition of six illustrations can be purchased at Oxfam Bookshop, Pullingers Art Shop and The Maltings. Monies raised from the sale of the prints will be used for maintaining our Columbian Press and donated to The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
