Farnham Town Council has announced that the referendum to consider the ‘making’ or adoption of the Farnham Neighbourhood Plan will take place on Thursday 4 May 2017, the same day as the Surrey County Council Elections.
If you haven’t registered to vote yet you can do so up until Thursday 13 April 2017, either on line at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by contacting the Electoral Services on 01483 523116.
The question that will be asked in the referendum is ‘Do you want Waverley Borough Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Farnham to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area ?’ Options ‘yes’ or ‘no’.
The Plan, prepared through consultation with residents and businesses in Farnham over a four year period, provides a vision for Farnham and guides the future growth of the town and its surrounding countryside for the period up to 2031.
There are 32 policies that will support the vision guiding and controlling development within the area covered by the Plan, including sites identified for housing and business development. Page 5 of the Plan has a map showing the designated area.
