Brightwell House sits at the centre of Brightwells Yard

The house was built in the 1790s but substantially remodelled in the 19th century. It was listed Grade II in 1972.

It formed part of the Redgrave Theatre with an auditorium constructed on the northern side in the 1970s. The theatre operated from 1974 to 1998. Following closure of the theatre, the house remained unoccupied until construction of Brightwells Yard. The house was then restored.

In 2025, the restaurant and cafe chain Coppa Club came forward as a prospective tenant. The chain already had branches across the south of Britain, including in Cobham, Guildford and Haslemere. However the proposed branch in Brightwells did not materialise.

In May 2026, Loungers was confirmed as the new tenant. Loungers operate a chain of cafe-bar-restaurant venues, the closest currently in Fleet and Alton. The Brightwells venue is to be named Carazo Lounge and is scheduled to open in August.
