Downing Street has been finished for the start of November, along with the new traffic lights that will “talk” to those at the Longbridge / Union Road / Downing Street junction.
There will now be a break in the most disruptive works over November and December, to support local retailers in the run up to Christmas. There will be overnight works during this period, essentially resurfacing in South Street and Union Road. Anyone parking in any of the car parks who needs to leave while works are in progress (10pm to 6am) will be escorted through the works and will be able to leave.
Work will resume in 2026, initially in The Borough and later in Castle Street.
