On Saturday 18 July the gardens at Monksfield (near Tilford) were opened to Farnham Society members and their friends, as a fund raising event for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
Monksfield House dates from the 1930s In the grounds, an older cottage and a walled garden date from around 1890. The 10.5 acre garden has been restored by the current owners, Mark and Kerry Reynolds, during the last seven years, to return it from horse paddocks back to parkland style grounds. It is home to an extensive range of trees and shrubs, some of which date from the late Victorian period, others from the time the present house was built, and some have been planted by the current owners. The event raised over £800 in aid of the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
The gardens are open to the general public on a few days of the year under the National Gardens Scheme.
