Battle of Moor Park

Our theme for Heritage Open Days 2019 is People Power. In Farnham we will celebrate this with a short play about a public protest back in 1897, which became known as The Battle of Moor Park.

We need people to act out this event.

When, in January 1897, the owner of Moor Park House tried to close Moor Park Lane, near the Shepherd and Flock public house, officials from Farnham Council plus several hundred local people gathered to force the gates open.

On 14 September we will perform a short play to commemorate the event. We need people to play the parts of the land owner and his assistants, Farnham Council officials and the local ‘rioters’.

We will hold a few rehearsals:

Wednseday evenings, 7 August and 28 August, at St Thomas on the Bourne Church

Wednesday evening, 11 September, at the Sjhepherd and Flock roundabout.

Interested? We are not looking for acting experience, only enthusiasm to take part.
